“The truth prevailed”: First YDC staffer convicted for abuse
On Wednesday, a New Hampshire jury reached a verdict that represents a major victory for all YDC survivors. Bradley Asbury, the former house leader of East Cottage, was found guilty on two counts of being an accomplice to abuse that took place in a YDC facility.
Asbury is the first YDC staff member to be convicted for his role in the abuse. His victim, Michael Gilpatrick, said after the verdict, “God is good and the truth prevailed. … And I was believed.”
Asbury is one of four people accused of Gilpatrick’s assault. He will be sentenced in January. Another suspect, Stephen Murphy, is slated to go to trial next year. Read more about Wednesday’s decision in InDepth NH.
This verdict is an important step in the continued pursuit of justice for you and all YDC survivors.
