Looking ahead to future trials

We hope this message finds you well. We are pleased to report good progress on several fronts in our efforts to secure justice for you.

Litigation update

Rockingham County

We are still anxiously awaiting the Meehan decision from the New Hampshire Supreme Court. Unfortunately, because the Supreme Court has paused any trials in cases involving a placement at a state-run facility while it considers the Meehan case, we have not been able to hold trials in Rockingham County this year. 

We recently met with Judge Andrew Schulman to discuss scheduling trials in the future. The good news is that Judge Schulman continues to agree with our position that multiple cases should be scheduled for trial so that we begin trying cases quickly after a ruling in Meehan. Judge Schulman is currently considering competing proposals from us and the state regarding the scheduling of trials in 2027, and we expect he will issue orders clarifying the schedule for 2027 in the weeks to come. We will share more details as they are available.

Merrimack County

Trials in Merrimack County, where Judge John Kissinger is presiding over cases that involve only privately run facilities, are continuing to move forward. There are trials currently scheduled for February and June of next year. This is encouraging progress, and it reflects the continued momentum we are building on behalf of our clients in the county.
